About the design
The magnificent Nobel tableware and linen collection was introduced in 1991 at the 90th anniversary of the Nobel Foundation. Ingrid Dessau was given the task of designing the tablecloth and napkins.
The Nobel tablecloth is woven in sand-coloured or in white satin, somewhat course linen yarn that discreetly sets off the pattern between the warp-faced and the weft-faced areas. The white 70×70 cm Nobel napkin is woven on a Jacquard loom in a thinner linen yarn with the Nobel emblem in one corner.
The Nobel assortment has been expended with a 50×50 cm napkin. The satin weave napkin is woven in white or sand-coloured yarn whit a checked pattern that matches the Nobel tablecloths.
The Nobel design received the Excellent Swedish Design Award in 1992.
