HERBARIUM
A collection designed by
Hanna Wendelbo
When Klässbols Linneväveri collaborates for the first time with designer Hanna Wendelbo, two patterns take shape that are deeply rooted in Värmland, in the materiality of lineand in stories about nature, home and tradition.
ABOUT THE HERBARIUM COLLECTION
A COLLECTION WITH ROOTS
Herbarium is a collection where pattern, material and place are woven together into a whole. The starting point is what has always been Klässbol's core – line, craftsmanship and landscape – interpreted through Hanna Wendelbo's design language.
The collection consists of two patterns: Blååker and Mårbacka pelargon . Two different expressions, but with the same ambition: textiles for everyday use, created to last a long time and become part of the home.
BLÅÅKER – A BLOOMING FLAX FIELD

Blue Field is a tribute to line's own flower. Instead of a single motif, Hanna Wendelbo chose to create the feeling of an entire field – an undulating, dense pattern that brings to mind a blue sea of flowering flax.
The pattern tells the story of line's origins as a plant material, its roots in the earth and a tradition that stretches far back in time. A motif that reminds us of what is easily forgotten in a fast-paced world of consumption: that flax is something that is grown, harvested and refined with time and care.
“I wanted to evoke that feeling you have when you are faced with a blooming flax field.”

MÅRBACKA PELARGON – MOTIFS FOR THE HOME

During the journey through Värmland, the next pattern took shape. The forests, the landscape and the place names led thoughts to Selma Lagerlöf and Mårbacka – and from there to the iconic geraniums.
The geranium has long had a natural place in Swedish homes. On the window sill, on the veranda, in the kitchen. A symbol of home comfort, care and everyday beauty. In Mårbacka pelargon this becomes a pattern that carries the story of both the place and the home forward.
“The motif came out easily on the paper, as if it had already been there for some time.”

WHEN WATERCOLOR MEETS FABRIC
The process behind Herbarium has moved between the free and the precise. The flowers were first sketched in watercolor to find their character and then colored in black ink, before being translated onto fabric.
Preserving the expression while at the same time making the patterns work technically in the looms was a crucial part of the work. Here Klässbol's own professional skills played a central role – where the pattern image was not only preserved, but also strengthened together with the natural properties of linet.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
HANNA WENDELBO
Hanna Wendelbo is a designer and illustrator with a clear and recognizable expression, where nature, botany and the work of the hand are at the center. Her patterns are characterized by a personal visual language, often created through watercolor, ink and carefully constructed compositions - where each shape carries its own character.
For Hanna, a pattern rarely begins at the drawing board, but in the encounter with the place, the material and the story. When the collaboration with Klässbols Linneväveri began, it was precisely the visit to Klässbol that set the tone for the entire Herbarium collection. Seeing line's threads, the looms and the people behind the craft became crucial to the expression.
“It has been a great joy to work so closely with the material and the craftsmanship. Seeing how a pattern takes shape in fabric, and how the properties linet can enhance the expression, has been an important part of the process.”
In Herbarium, Hanna has worked on the border between the free and the precise. The flowers have first been allowed to develop in watercolor and ink, and then interpreted and processed together with Klässbol's professional expertise so that the patterns work in fabric - without losing their soul. The result is two patterns that bear her clear hand, but which are at the same time deeply rooted in Klässbol's tradition and materials.
For Hanna, the collaboration is also value-driven. Working with a family business with production in Sweden, rooted in generations of knowledge, is something she highlights as particularly significant.
“In these times, it means a lot to work with a company that has its production still in Sweden and that protects both the craftsmanship and the material.”
The ambition with Herbarium is not to create textiles for one season, but for everyday life. Objects that are used, washed and live over time – and that can become a natural part of the home.
Woven in Klässbol, Värmland.
Designed with respect for the material.
Created to be used – every day.
