Ingrid Dessau

Genuine Skåne with roots in Swedish handicrafts.

After studying at the Technical School in Stockholm and having her debut exhibition in 1953, Ingrid Dessau worked as a designer at Kasthall's carpet factory and later at Kinnasand. She worked mainly with carpets and textile interiors. Among her clients were banks, embassies and museums.

Over the years, Ingrid has created classic patterns and decors for textiles, hand-woven and hand-tufted rugs. She has received several awards and, in addition to all her assignments in Sweden, she has also been frequently hired by international companies.

The Nobel cloth and Nobel napkins are one of a series of notable commissions for Ingrid Dessau. Here, she took a small classic square in a cloth woven at Dylta Mill and developed it.

The design work resulted in traditionally based tablecloths and napkins for our environment and our modernly set tables. The presentation took place at the Nobel Jubilee banquet in 1991 and for the appreciation then, and the development since, there is only one word – success!

The choice of materials and design highlight the Nobel tablecloth and napkins as a brilliant table setting set of very high quality. The tablecloth and napkins are almost a given for all occasions when the festive spirit is to be expressed.

The high quality means that the tablecloths and napkins can also withstand everyday use – completely in line with the mission's intentions that the functional qualities of Nobelservice should provide simplicity and broad usability.
