The Nobel napkins are part of " Nobel a magnificent service " and the design was distinguished by the design award Excellent Swedish Form in 1992. The Nobel service was produced especially for the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Nobel Foundation and the Nobel Prize in 1991. It was inaugurated by Their Majesties the King and Queen during the magnificent banquet in the Blue Hall, the city hall in Stockholm.
The Nobel cloth and napkins are woven by us, Klässbols Linneväveri, using traditional techniques with a modern design. The woven checkered pattern is visible because the light is reflected differently from the warp and weft surfaces. The white napkins, measuring 70×70 cm, are woven in damask with a thinner linen yarn that nicely highlights the Nobel emblem in one of the corners of the napkin. The Nobel range has also been supplemented with a satin napkin, measuring 50×50 cm, in the colours sand and white.
