• Born in Uppsala in 1942.
• After matriculation, language studies at the universities of Madrid and Paris.
• Graphics: private student of Harry van Kuyk in Nijmegen, Holland. Also private student of Peter Kneubüler in Zurich.
• The Lithography School in Tidaholm.
• The Charlottenburg Group in Solna.
• Coloring and sculpture: Idun Lovéns Art School Stockholm and Claudio Palla studio Pietra Santa.
• Design studies in Zurich.
• Computer graphics education at the art school in Stockholm.
• 1985-1992 Creative Director at Givata form AB in Stockholm

Today Torkel Dahlstedt works as an artist and designer. He has received the "Excellent Swedish Design" award with, among others, Klässbols Linneväveri.
