Her designs include patterns used in Danfoss and in the Danish Parliament, the Supreme Court, and the United Nations building in New York.

Ribe Cathedral is one of hundreds of churches that have textiles designed and handwoven by Hanne Vedel. There are interior fabrics all over the world. Curtains, blankets, tablecloths, napkins, towels and cushions designed and made by or for Hanne Vedel.

Hanne Vedel was born in 1933 at Krabbesholm Folk High School. In 1951 she received a craft certificate from Cis Fink's hand-weaving workshop. From 1951 to 1952, Hanne was a student at Porvoo Folk High School in Finland.

Hanne then worked in a craft shop in Helsinki under the management of Uhra-Beata Simberg Ehrström.
In 1954 she volunteered at the Finnish School of Arts and Crafts.

The school – now the Ateneum School of Art and Design, where she had Kaj Franck as her teacher, among others. After two years in Finland, Hanne Vedel established her own hand-weaving workshop in Aabenraa in 1955.

In 1970, Hanne Vedel expanded when she bought Spindegaarden in Askov from Paula Trock and moved the workshop to new premises in Aabenraa.
