With a solid interest in photography, which has been a large part of Carl-Erik’s life, the idea of bringing nature into our weaving mill was started. Ferns are something that Carl-Erik enjoys purely visually, sometimes frosty winter versions but also beautifully green ones.

Carl-Erik was a former weaver at Klässbols Linneväveri for over 10 years and he has always also worked as a photographer in his free time. “During that time, I thought it would be fun to come up with my own pattern”.

“Outside the window in the machine park in the summer, I could glimpse a beautiful carpet of ferns. I thought it would be possible to use them as a pattern. And nature in interior design is very popular. One day I looked for some beautiful ferns and I brought them into my garage studio here at home in Värmskog. I took a larger number of photos and then selected a few. Then I convert them in an image program into fully graphic images in black and white. Based on them, I made a pattern of that and sent it to Urban Johansson. He liked the idea and he thought it was a fun idea and started to create the pattern in Klässbol’s studio”. – Carl-Erik.

Shrinkage: Manhattan is pre-washed and mangled, further shrinkage of about 2% may occur.
