"Linet is a fascinating material with its functionality, timelessness and durability. The contrast between the mat and glossy in the linen is magical."

Jeanette Karsten

In 2025, we celebrate Dalahästpattern's 30th anniversary-a pattern that has become a dear part of Klässbol's soul and history.

From gingerbread form to popular form - the story behind the pattern

DalahästThe pattern was born in 1995 at home in the kitchen. Jeanette Karsten baked gingerbread with her daughter when she noticed how the punched cake shapes created a graphic pattern in the dough. Every now and then, the idea was awakened to a textile pattern with dalahästAR - each unique, placed holes about noise.

What was unexpected then quickly became groundbreaking. Figures placed without repetition and symmetry stood out in the 90s textile market, and the pattern was quickly taken to Ljungberg's textile for print.

In the same year, Dalahästappeared one as a meter item in all Svenskt Tenn's shop window - a launch that did not go unnoticed. The pattern was printed in several color schemes by hand and was also on tiles at the Carl Malmsten store.

A designer with sense of both structure and playfulness

Jeanette Karsten has a background as an architect, educated at the School of Architecture in Oslo, KTH in Stockholm and Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff. With her in the luggage, she has studies in color and form theory, scenography and furniture design- something that is clearly noticeable in her design.

Dalahästone is one of her most famous patterns. Since its inception, it has adorned everything from pots and napkins to fabric, necessities and bags.

"The special thing is that every horse is unique - there is a freedom in the pattern."
- Jeanette Karsten

DALAHÄSTone and Klässbols - a meeting in sustainable craft

After Ljungberg's bankruptcy, the pattern was taken over by Frösö hand pressure. In 2015, Klässbol's Linneväveri was given the opportunity to weave Dalahästone in linen. The original templates from 1995 were scanned, and production could be started.

We at Klässbols fell directly for the playful expression and how well it could be translated into woven linen. Since then, Dalahästhas been a part of our range - previously as a pillow case and pots, today as stylish runners and towels in linen.
